Wilderness Park, Alabama, United States

Really unique

Small park with several different types of bamboo. It really felt like you were in China. Loads of turtles bathing on fallen logs in the middle of the pond the walkway circles. There are also minnows galore. You won't spend a lot of time there but you will certainly remember it.

    Small but Nice
The bamboo park is a free walking trail in Prattville. First thing is that GPS is likely to send you the wrong directions, as it did to me about 3 times. It is in a bit of a sketchy part of Prattville but once you are in the park itself that is not an issue. The park is a bout a 10 minute circular route through a bamboo forest and around a little pond. Was surprised by how small it is and how quick you get done with it. I walked a few laps. I saw the beginnings of some smaller paths through the forest, including one that over looks a stream, which was nice. Overall, it is a good walk if you are in the area. However, it is not something to plan your whole day around.

A Very Short Walk but Fun to See.
This was a fun thing to see in a place like Alabama. It was quiet and peaceful and a nice walk. However, unless I missed some of the trail, it was a lot smaller than I expected. It only took me 15 minutes to walk the trail that circled the little pond. Still, it was a nice little diversion. I was staying at the Marriott Prattville Conference Center (with the golf course) and from there, it was about a 12-15 minute drive.
