Wehle Nature Center, Alabama, United States

Great birdwatching
We visited as part of the Alabama State Parks event “Fins, Feathers, and Flowers.” We are not birders but most of the group were experienced birders and they spotted many species including a kestrel. We saw a fox squirrel too. There is a dirt/gravel road through the property. The property includes a few small lakes, a very long covered bridge, longleaf pines, and several buildings. We went into the restrooms at the visitor center, and ate lunch in a different building that had long picnic tables, simple but very nice. Check their website and maybe call before you go to make sure it will be open to the public when you plan to be there. They offer facility rental for meetings and group events.
