Wales West R.V. Resort Light Railway, Alabama, United States

4.0 (39 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Silverhill Scenic Railroads

We will definitely stop here again on our way through in our RV!

We are traveling back home to Oregon and needed a place to stay the night in Alabama with our RV. I found this place with my Campendium App and decided to give it a try. It a bit of a drive off of I10 but the scenery was lovely. And the RV park was such a surprise! It was like driving into the North Pole! Everything is decorated……even the bushes between every RV site. We have a great pull-through site right next to the restrooms and showers ..(which are very clean and spacious!) We paid $10- each for a train ride, but really had no idea what we were signing up for. There are 2 different trains. Both super fun, and one even drops you off for 30 minutes at the North Pole where you can do crafts and see Santa! We met so many nice people from nearby areas who come out to celebrate every holiday here. The is snow, hot chocolate , boiled peanuts ,music and happy faces everywhere! What a treat this was!

very unique, great if you like trains, family friendly, close to Mobile,AL
We stopped here twice, several years apart, only for one night in each case on our way from Florida to Texas. The sites are mainly sand and all full service and are well spaced. For the location and the quality of the sites I feel the rate of $50.00 is a bit high. Also, when we stayed there last the steam train was free if you were a camper, this time it was an extra $10.00 each (we passed on the train ride).

    Our most favorite campground
There is so much to do here. I recently came for the Halloween train the 7th and 8th of October with two of my grandkids ages 7 and 4. We had so much fun. It was warm enough to swim in the lake and enjoy the slides. There are a couple of different playgrounds too. Everything was clean and working. We cant wait to go back for the Christmas train!!
