Fantastic local theatre!

The Ritz Theatre opened on July 4, 1928, with Wallace Beery in “We’re In The Navy.” It was first located next door to its current site and spent its first five years as a nickelodeon. Today, the Ritz is home to the Theatre of Gadsden, producing some of the world's best shows with a fantastic crew of actors to provide fun and entertainment for the whole family.

    Flawless Portrayal of Johnny Cash
We went last weekend to see their production of Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash. I really didn't know what to expect from a smalltown theater company, but let me just tell you that I was BLOWN AWAY at the talent on that stage. The orchestra opened with a prelude, and from that moment on, the show took on a whole new life that is really hard to put into words. After the opening, the actors bounded onstage and in the audience to get the show started. EVERYONE PLAYED AN INSTRUMENT! There were fiddles, guitars, pianos, juiceharps, autoharps, dolbros, upright bass, ukeleles, and they played them flawlessly. They told the story of Johnny Cash (a music legend) through the stories and songs, and the acting was superb. I cried, I laughed, and I felt myself getting drawn into Cash's character and his struggles. I can't tell you how pleased I was with this community theatre experience. Gadsden has some talented folk, and those I saw need to be in professional theater.
