Worth the Trip

We visited the Southeastern Raptor Center in Auburn in June 2014. You must call in advance and schedule an appointment if you are a small private party. There is a fee associated. When we went it was $100 and it was well worth every penny. The fee is used to help fund the rehabilitation and care of the raptors at the center. I have never seen such a variety of raptors in one place and I was fascinated by each of these beautiful creatures. We had the privilege of seeing about 25 and learning something about each of them. Marianne and Andrew made this informative and educational presentation interesting and fun to all ages in our group (ages 12-70+). They brought some of the birds out for us to see up close. Let me tell you, it is a thrill to be that close to a golden eagle! It was definitely the highlight of our trip. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in birds or wildlife-- a very unique experience that we are still talking about.

    A fun football weekend activity
Our family of five enjoyed the raptor show on Homecoming weekend. The cost was $5 each and it was easy to park and walk in at show time. The show was fun and educational. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. They also allowed plenty of time and access for pictures and we got a pictures of our children with Spirit, the bald eagle. The show took about an hour, maybe a few minutes longer. I encourage everyone to do this one.

    Great Auburn Game Weekend Experience
My wife and I go at least once a year. This is on Friday on home game weekends. Great to take children and grandchildren, it is outside so you are in the environment. Take sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray and possibly folding chairs, It is an amphitheater with stone benches which is fine but this faces southwest and the sun is in yours eyes. The people with chairs head to shady side. The trainers bring out about 12 different birds, which will fly and then tour them through the audience. The talk is very informative about the Raptor Center and each type of bird. They serve popcorn and drinks and there is a charge which all is used for the support of the Raptor Center.
