Wonderful

Lovely collection of local artifacts in this small museum. It is in the building that was the original county courthouse and now shares the space with the Shelby County Historical Society. We had a great time visiting with the staff members and volunteers who helped us locate documents about our ancestors who once lived near there.

    Could have stayed all day!
This is a small museum about the Shelby County history. But the most amazing thing is the archive area. It not only has information about Shelby County but book from many other Alabama Counties and is just a wealth of information if you are in to genealogy. They close at 3pm but we could have stayed busy researching for longer.

Stopped to look but got so much more
I stopped in to the museum just to look around, but when I saw a distant relative's picture on the wall, I ended up doing some research on my family and made a great find! Everyone was very pleasant and helpful! They also have several unique artifacts!
