Selma Interpretive Center, Alabama, United States

Quick Stop
If you go to the Lowndes Interpretive Center first (like we did), then you’re unlikely to get too much new information. Selma is really a very brief stop. The center is a single room and if you’ve come to see the bridge then you can do so quickly. Having said that, the trip overall is certainly one that is worth taking.

Check the hours before coming. Full facility is only open Wednesday to Saturday.
We came on a Tuesday, and the friendly clerk inside said only the bookstore, souvenirs, and bathrooms were open today due to staffing of the Park Rangers. The rest of the downtown of Selma is closed, boarded up, and run down. Choose your date to come carefully because with the interpretative centre being closed, all you can do is walk over the bridge and back. It was a pretty short visit. Some of the other 'independent' museum sites in town are in run-down condition, disrepair or closed.

Small Center
20-minute visit, especially if you are also planning to visit the Lowndes Interpretive Center and the Montgomery Interpretive Center. But still worth it! The Center is literally right across the street from the Edmund Pettus Bridge, so if you have more time, you can walk over the bridge and check out the Civil Rights Memorial Park on the other side.
