    Eh…
I have been to Roland State Park several times. I was disappointed this time. The staff was great no question, but we stayed in cabin 1 which is one of the older cabins. I don’t mind it being old but they is hardly any pots and pans or things needed to cook in here anymore. I am not expecting to cook a huge dinner but need the basics. Also now the dish soap and bathroom soap along with paper towels are not included? I mean that is not a big expense. We brought our dog and I understand there is a pet fee but $25 a night? That is a lot! I will come back but obviously be better prepared.

Great Place to Stay on the Alabama River
This is a great place to stay on the Alabama River. The sites on the river definitely seem to be the best to me. Ask for one of those. Some are smaller than others. Still, you can walk down to the water and feel like you are not right next to your neighbor. All the sites in the park have water, power, picnic tables and fire ring. And they are clean. You can put boats in at the park. We actually put our kayak in right on the river in front of our site. This is a quiet park and the staff is top notch. Friendly and they make rounds. The bathhouse by the park entrance is spotless, has air and the showers are great. However, like most rv parks now, you can hear the rv air conditioners going all night but they are not too loud to keep you from sleeping. A couple of the rvs seem to have been at the park a long time (besides the host). I am not sure how long you can stay at this park without moving. Boats will start pulling out about 5:00 am but again, they are not too noisy. They have moved in quite a few cabins in the park. They seem very nice on the outside. The one right on the water has it's own dock if you can get that one. I will also say the area near the dumpster is not clean but that can be hard to manage I'm sure. If you have an rv this will be a great place to stay for one night or a few. The Alabama River is great too. We kayaked and at times the fast boats seemed to take over but we did it anyway. Lots of wildlife, owls, birds and frogs. There is one small slew where we saw a small gator. My husband saw a bald eagle. There is swimming but you will need to drive there and possibly pay another small fee. It is not next to the rvs and you cannot walk there.
