Fishing, walking,right on the river

Free and Fun! This hidden area of the Chattahoochee, is directly across from Columbus RiverWalk Park. Cross the bridge on food, drive or rent a bike and come on over. Parking is free. Amphitheatre doesn't have enough events, but a nice place to have them. The real gem is if parking is packed at Columbus side of the river, come on over for free parking, and get right down on the water at the Chattahoochee. Pay attention to the water rise when the dam upstream is opened but the fishing is great. Walking or bike paths are wide and clean. Bench seats and grass areas for picnics. Plenty of shade. NO Amenities- bring your own water and snacks. Rent a bike across the river at Ride On Bikes and enjoy the Alabama side with a safe bike lane crossing the bridge. Scenic and quiet. It is right behind the county office building, and usually has safe police presence. Great for kids and to enjoy the outdoors. Look for fish, geese, and wildlife, maybe even a bald eagle. Think of it as a quiet, safe, trailhead for free adventures.
