Payne Lake Recreational Area - Campground

The campground is really nice, the campsites are huge and there are tent sites right next to the water. Plenty of RV sites as well. We loved the solitude and it was a great place to stop for a couple night during our road trip. The grounds are very clean and each site has electricity and water. They also take Access Pass being in the Talladega National Forest. Shopping is less than 20 mins away by car if you need supplies.

Looking for quiet camping overlooking big beautiful lake?
This isn't Yellowstone or Yosemite, but if you are looking for a quiet place to camp on a big, remote lake, you are in luck! There are bathrooms, water spigots, trask cans, firepits and lots of peace and quiet. This is definitely off the beaten path even for AL. Bring your camp chairs so you can sit around your firepit, and pack a fishin' pole too!

    Nice little place
Payne lake is a small fishing lake. (trout) The sites are first come, first served. They are not very large and no hookups, but that's no big deal for us. Its a nice, clean campground with some trees for shade, and firepits and tables on each spot. We enjoyed our weekend there even though the fishing wasn't that great.
