Worth your time
My dad came for a visit and he loves AA history. The items and the guide were very informative. It was great being able to see and learn about the history of Tuscaloosa’s AA residents. It’s a great place to explore and learn.

A Wonderful Collection of African-American History
Being that it was a cold January day, we ended up having a private tour of the museum, which is housed in an historic bungalow just southwest of downtown. They have a fascinating collection of artifacts following the struggle of African-Americans from the terrible days of slavery, through the turbulent civil rights years, and up to more present days. We heard personal stories about what it was like to grow up under such difficult situations and about how young people are now being inspired to move forward and be proud of their heritage. This is a museum suitable for young and old alike. Definitely worth a visit!

Wealth of information, stashed in a tidy home!
The Murphy-Collins house is a must see attraction for natives and visitors. They have a surplus of material on hand. Too much to cover in one visit; it's literally overflowing in some rooms. The authentic furnishings and decorations allow you to travel back in time.
