Step back in time and discover a beautiful hidden gem of Madison County
Nestled on the top of what's known as Graveyard Hill just north of downtown New Market, AL is the Mount Paran Campground and Cemetery. It is the final resting place of over 400 early Madison County Settlers and Veterans from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and the Civil War. Truly a beautiful location to visit if you are a history buff. Efforts are under way to reclaim this part of our history, so be sure to check out the website if you are interested in volunteering. Be sure to take your camera, as you'll find many opportunities to use it.
