Love the scenic Martin walking trail on Lake Gadsden
A little bit of heaven....peace and quiet and very scenic, from the parkiing lot behind Gadsden Mall, walk along crushed stone pathway which leads to wooden boardwalk, stretches out for about 1/2 mile over the water, (includes bird santuary for red headed woodpeckers, American egrit, canadian geese, ducks, cranes, turtles, beavers, and rabbits) onward to an island, and trail turns towards So. 11th Street and leads back to the mall. About two miles of beautfil sunrise/sunsets, along the water with several sitings of birds/animals. Also a circular crushed stone path near mall and benches to sit on and enjoy nature or have a picnic. Be sure and bring lots of bread for the ducks and turtles. Bring a folding chair and binoculars and you can watch the sun come up and the birds too! Best kept secret around! Oh and if you and your kids/grandkids have a fishing license, the South 11th Street entrance has flat areas that meet the water. If you bring some headphone with music thats even better. And, its all free. Susan G.

Amazing to find connected to the largest mall in town!
We visited for the second time in 3 years, and this time we hit the jackpot! Not only did we see lots of herons, egrets, cormorants, and songbirds, but also a Bald Eagle! Lots of neat boardwalks over the water, as well as benches and even picnic pavilions. Ran out of energy before we ran out of trail.
