Hippie Hole

This review is for Hippie Hole or Marthas Falls. This is roughly a mile hike from the back of the Little River Canyon parking lot. It’s a beautiful hike and I would rate it moderate. Can get busy with swimmers but it wasn’t crowded when we went. This trail is definitely worth the hike.

Fun spot, if you don't get a citation from park ranger.
Traveled from Atl., GA to come see this place. We had a friend tell us it was great so we had to see it for ourselves. However, the fun came at a price. We were in the river having fun and was told to exit by a park ranger. We immediately got out, and went back to our car. At the car 4 park rangers were there to meet us and asked for our I.D.'s. We gave the rangers no trouble at all, and when we got our I.D's back, 2 tickets came with them. What?? We were complety confused and had no idea what we did to deserve these. He then told us the river was closed. We had NO prior knowledge of this fact until this moment and explained our intentions to him. He told us we had to go to court if we didn't want to pay and left us very frustrated at this point. There is appearnelty a Facebook page and website we are supposed to check before swimming to see if the river is open. Please make sure you check this before going out because those rangers are not going to have any sim paths or even try to listen to your side of the story. They did not care at all what we had to say and honesty gives a very bad reputation to their service. No warning at all, just a ticket. Very unfair and think that was an unjust desicion made on the ranger's part.

    Beautiful falls and rock formations
We stumbled onto Marthas Falls, not really knowing what and where we were going. There is a sign pointing to the trail from the Little River Falls parking area. The trail is fairly well marked until near the end, although there are side trails where you can see people have gotten off the trail. Rule of thumb-if it's close to the cliff, it's not the real trail. The trail fades out at a point where it's obvious that a lot of people have gone straight down to the river. This is the right way to go, and is the only strenuous part of the hike. It will take you down to the river where you can walk along the rock formations to the falls. Both the falls and the rock formations are beautiful. When we were there it was too cool to swim, but it looked like an awesome swimming area, and one we'll visit if we are there when it's warm.
