Jeff Friend Trail, Alabama, United States

4.5 (14 reviews) Spent Ranking #17 in Gulf Shores Hiking Trails

Quiet Short Hike, GREAT Scenery

This trail is the short trail in the Bon Secour NWR, and really delivers a lot of "bang for the buck". There is a pretty sizable parking lot and admission is free. This trail is easy to walk or hike and includes several benches to rest upon as you go your way around the trail. The trail includes wonderful deep woods views, as well as a marsh and the coastline of Little Lagoon. There is also a kayak/canoe launch as well. NOTE: There are no restrooms here so plan accordingly. Even at a very leisurely pace, you can hike or walk this trail in 30 minutes to an hour.

    Easy walk!
This board walk with frequent benches was the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors with my elderly parents. The one mile walk was just far enough. I enjoyed the transition from maritine forest to the beach.

I am a local and enjoy the time, money and effort that has been made to make something other than condos and shops.
Great little trail to walk..very flat as you would expect and shaded from the sun...but not the humidity. From Ft Morgan Rd to little lagoon is a nice place to spend a morning or afternoon...bring bug spray as sometimes the bugs can bad...but the spray will keep them away. We usually go when there is wind so the area is cooler and bug free. Sunsets from the tower at the end of the trail is great....a nice bottle of wine may add to the view.
