Horseshoe Bend National Military Park, Alabama, United States

Stunning story but not much remains

What a story told at Horseshoe Bend Battlefield. The Visitors Center/museum doesn't hold anything back when telling the good and bad of this time period and in particular the battle that took place here. The ranger gave me a pamphlet with a map of the park. There is a 20-minute video you can watch and a small museum to get a bit more context before going on the driving tour. Each stop has a cell phone message that provides additional information for those who don't want to watch the video. This is free and worth taking the trek.

    Quick Stop before Lunch
Great stop. Took us about 2-2.5 hours to watch the movie, tour the museum and do the driving tour with a few walking stops along the way. Great for anyone who wants to know more about the area history and the Creek Nation. Was very informative and the park ranger was very nice. They also have passport stamps here.

    Informative experience
This national military park offers free admission, and it was nice that we were able to stop by for just about an hour at the end of the day. We started in the small museum, and then drove around the tour road, with stops marked where we could see and learn a little more about the battle between Andrew Jackson's US forces and the Native Americans. It was nice to learn more about this period in history that we didn't know much about, and the fields and river made a pretty environment. There isn't much left of the village or other things from that day, but we did our best to imagine them.
