Great Camping

Was in Alabama for a wedding. We decided to camp at Higgins Ferry. Had a great stay. Stayed on site #2 for 11 days. Great park. Ranger and his wife were very helpful. Great bath house especially if you want to get away from that small rv shower. The view of Lake Mitchell from our site was wonderful. The other campers were friendly and helpful. We had plenty of room to get our 36' 5th wheel in.

    Nice place for summer
We live at lake during summer, don’t usually stay at park.putting the boat in and out, using restrooms, etc, meet family at camper and see the campgrounds. Very nice and close to water...nice

Long twisty drive but well worth it.
I really is 8 miles off of I 65, just seems a bit longer. The exit just shows camping with no name. There is a sign at the truck stop pointing the way. Probably about 40 sites of various sizes, some with concrete pads with full hook ups. When you get there call the park ranger on the phone and he will get you set up. Quiet nice lake, huge parking lot since there are a lot of fishing tournaments held there. We happened to be there when one was going on. Outside of the parking lot being full of boat trailers, it was a non issue. If you have a really large RV call well in advance for available space. a few are pull through but not many. It was out of the way, quiet and pleasant, can't ask for any more than that.
