    Fabulous Place!!!
Dear Mr. OMG, please take your Mother back to Ohio! This is an authentic juke joint with amazing atmosphere and mesmerizing music. It is back open now. The place is somewhat difficult to find (just follow your GPS), located in a poor predominately black neighborhood, but I would not say scary as I have been in much worse places (I am a middle-aged white woman). The Sonny Moorman Band was playing and I can't remember when I have heard more wonderful live music or enjoyed myself more. Mr. Gip came around and shook everyone's hand and hugged all the ladies, I felt very honored. Everyone was dancing and having a great time! This place is uniquely decorated and the music was to die for. So if you are concerned about the neighborhood or the fanciness of the décor, please go elsewhere so the others of us who are there for the music and atmosphere can get a parking place! Bring your own drinks and have the time of your life! Mr. Gip is 96 years old and still playing the warmup and breaks, but in his past he played with many of the great blues legends. He first opened in 1952 and we hope it is open at least another 50 years in honor of Mr. Gip. Thank you Mr. Gip and the friendly folk that work there for a one of a kind experience! Loved it!

One of the few remaining authentic jukes
Mr. Gip has been running his weekly Saturday backyard party for over 60 years now in a converted, tricked out chicken coop. Since he is the other side of ancient, I suggest you check it out...FAST. On a recent visit, he was very nice in the few minutes we talked as was everyone that I interacted with. I drove over 3 hours to check it out for myself and was not disappointed. It's BYOB and they had a grill fired up if you get hungry. The band was decent and the crowd appreciative. It's a harmonious mix of both white and black folks just wanting to have a good time. Don't be scared to visit and bring your dancing shoes.
