General W.K. Wilson Jr. Bridge, Alabama, United States

4.0 (24 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Creola Bridges

It does function as designed

I can't believe I am reviewing a bridge! But as I drove across it I found good and bad. I was disappointed that I couldn't see the Mobile river better. It was a let down. But. The horizon as you are going thru the span was beautiful. And after you come down from the Mobile river crossing toy cross over the Delta and do get a nice view of the Tensaw River. Overall it got us from Mobile county to Baldwin county so it works.

    History... learn it.
To the 'Mobilian Mom' who said she's never heard of Gen. W.K. Wilson... he is the person responsible for building the "Dolly Parton Bridge". He's a part of Mobile history... I'd advise you check into the history of it. Anyone born & raised here should know this... I've only been here 10 years and I know about it. 'Attractions' are in the eye of the beholder. To some people it is just a bridge, but to others it is quite a structural feat and that absolutely classifies it as an attraction to many people. Learn more on the Alabama Heritage website that I linked to the attraction info. :)

    I-65 BRIDGE
Drove across, this bridge on 05/10, entering Mobile from the north. There is a long causeway that leads up to the bridge. Nice views from the bridge, but no place to legally stop. The bridge itself is a thriugh arch type bridge. The bridge is also nicknamed the "Dolly Parton" bridge.
