Great experience..... but it could be better
I attended on July 18, 2015 for 10 laps at Talladega. Booking the 7am time in July is a must! It made the heat bearable and it seemed things stayed on schedule. I had a great time and it was certainly a bucket list item. There were several things that could be done better though....and would make the experience MUCH BETTER!! 1. At no time was the proper line around the track ever discussed. It would have been nice to take a quick lap in a regular vehicle so the proper line could have been taught to the drivers. Knowing that out of the gate would have helped mine, and everyone's overall confidence. I was totally floored that this was not discussed at all. 2. The fact that you have absolutely no radio or intercom communication with the instructor sitting next to you is horrible. I feel I was very much capable of running much faster laps earlier on if we could have talked during the drive. Today's technology certainly should allow for this. 3. The radio instructor has radio communication with the DJRA people....I feel they try to keep most everyone around the 170MPH mark. I was ready to drop the hammer and go flat out. I had no way to communicate this at all. Its obvious they never intend to let you go flat out. 4. Its a shame there is no way to keep track of your laps. I had no idea what lap I was on. Had I known I was coming up on my last lap....then I would have really tried to push the envelope a little more. The cars and and the track are designed to take it....I was ready to really let er rip. This could be solved...if there was a way to talk with the instructer. 5. The video....1....its expensive. 2. the previous videos I have seen on show both the view out the window and the view of me actually driving the car. This, apparently, this no longer happens. I know the instructors hands were on the wheel from time to time....but that is hard to see while driving. I really would like to know much I was really driving the car. Especially if I plan to come back. 6. Counting the 1st lap as the lap that you leave the pits is so unfair. I was not expecting that at all. It just allows less time to build confidence and speed. Overall, the morning went very smoothly. Just seems like there are some detail that need to be addressed to make the experience even better. I would do it again though for sure. I hope these issues can be addressed to make the experience better for the future participants!

where was my last review??
well we will try it again! Early July did the ride a long at talladega. First, was not informed that the video was an extra 30.00, next time should be told on website. Did ride along and was handed my video, went home and only had one video of the view out of the windshield, i thought that it should have had a video of me in the seat and my reaction. guess not! there is two videos on the card but only one works. Don't try contacting the website because no one answers, I had to call to get some questions answered. If you look at all the negative comments someone from DJRA responds so please email me with your response. Ron Mayville Amherstburg Ontario
