Crooked Creek Civil War Museum, Alabama, United States

You need to go see!

Fred is the nicest man and this is the best Civil War museum I've ever been to! It's even on the location of a real Civil War battle. He's been offered a grant for the museum, but so far Fred prefers to handle everything himself, offering a VERY unique experience including walking the grounds of a real Civil War battle, seeing period carriages, tools, weapons, and LOTS of historic artifacts he found on the property, including authentic swords and guns he actually let me, my wife, and toddler hold for pictures! They were unloaded and everything was safe of course. He built every building on the property himself. There have even been "orbs" and ghost sightings at the museum if you are into that! He has the cutest pets and my 3 year old liked playing with the dogs. You should all go to this museum right now!

A must-see for American History buffs
This was my first visit to a civil war museum and I was so glad I did. Fred Wise was just a joy to meet and he is very knowledgeable on the the subject. You owe it to yourself to pay this place a visit because it us truly unique. My husband is from PA and he visited Gettysburg and others in the north but he said this place is so singular due to the hands-on experience as well as getting a personal tour by the owner. He also has items in his collection that are truly fascinating and rare.

    Crooked Creek Civil War Museum
We three visited this wonderful museum on Sat., July 27. I had heard about it, and this museum is a must see attraction, whether one is an amateur, a child, or a real historian, reenactor, someone traveling in the area or whatnot. It is warm, friendly, welcoming, and absolutly full of authentic Civil War artifacts, weapons, very rare holsters, original flags, and the list goes on. Two very nice and intriguiging dioramas are part of the displays in this original stage stop. Fred is a wonderful and very knowledgable host. Go!
