Chief Ladiga Trail, Alabama, United States

4.5 (77 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Piedmont Hiking Trails

Great trail

We road the Chief Ladiga trail from Jacksonville to the state line where it becomes the Silver Comet trail and on into Cedortown GA. The trail was great, wonderful scenery and only very slight inclines. We went to Cedortown spent the night then returned to Jacksonville the next day.It was a great ride both days.

Chief Ladiga Trail's East End Most Scenic
We enjoyed the east end scenery the most, especially about the last 10 miles where you're riding along a river and through a forest. They are trying to repair the ruptures in the asphalt from the roots on that end also. it's nice that there is a campground available at the west end in Anniston, Alabama where we camped overnight after biking about 13 miles the next day and back. The campground does not have water hookups or sewer or electric. But it does have two poles that have electric available which we did use with a 25 or 30 foot extension cord. We drove to Piedmont the next day where we found a place to park our motorhome and got onto the trail and then biked 17 miles to the Georgia border where it meets up with the Silver Comet trail, our favorite end of the Chief Ladiga Trail. There is not much of any elevation increase anywhere along this 32-mile rail to trail. it is short on places where you can park to access the trail and maps are not readily available online to give any help in that regard.
