Quaint place!
Let me start by saying that I love this park. I love almost everything about it. My one exception is that I didn't have cell service in the cabin I stayed in overnight. However, that turned out to be a perk because it made me read and go outside to play! The park is not huge, but it is just right. Nice cabins for rentals. Nice, well-marked trails. Just lovely!

A Civil war relic
Constructed in 1862, bought by Confederate Government in 1863. The only Iron blast furnace owned by the Confederate Government. Destroyed 1865 by Union Calvary. Camp sites, showers, historical homes. All in a quiet glade, near rivers and forests.

Interesting but not a lot to see
Park entrance is $2, so cost is very reasonable. There are lots of camping spaces and some cabins for rent, but i was really just riding through. The old ironworks ruins are covered by a metal canopy and they are interesting to look at. There are a few informational plaques on the history of the ironworks. Also, the Overland Bridge was moved from Montevallo and reassembled at the park. I wish there was more to see and do here but worth a quick stop if you are in the area.
