Bladon Springs State Park, Alabama, United States

Wow! What a pleasant surprise!

This week I took my granddaughters, mother and step father to visit a place often visited by me as a child. It isn’t but about 25 miles from my Mom’s home. We haven’t been there in years but remembered it being run down the last time I was there about 22 years ago. What a pleasant surprise. The county now runs the park and has done a wonderful job cleaning it up and maintaining it. The springs now have a hand pump attached to them. The picnic pavilions are clean and very nice. There are nice playgrounds for children, very clean restrooms, nicely maintained grass, and a nice little campground. What a wonderful thing that Choctaw County has done! Thanks for keeping it open and bringing back memories from years ago. Such a quiet place and very well worth a visit! I will be going back again. Also, the historic church is beautiful! So are the historic homes around the historic district! Beautiful!

    Highly disappointed.
This is a County park has a park manager and everything. They have a campground that looks like a ghost town. Padlock tall grass. It used to be a mineral springs spa back in the day. There are concrete block Wells with seats and steps and hand pumps. The water is disgusting looking has been used in awhile. This picture I found with water running clear not so much. It needs some work to be anything touristy so I would drive on by.

    Bad communication equalled bad result
This is a county park. Alabama Parks shows this as a state park. Very confusing. I called months in advance for a campsite as I through travelled and was told I had a reservation with no need for deposit. I called the week before and the day of for verification and got voicemail with no callback to arrive to a full campground with no attendant and a posted sign of check or money order to be deposited in a lock box. Campground atmosphere looked more like working campers than family campers.
