Disappointed that Asian-American section was closed.
Very nice place. Nothing spectacular to see. I don't recommend it for kids or individuals with limited walking abilities as the rest places are predominantly outside with no access to drinking water or restrooms. I saw two drinking fountains near the residence. On a hot day, bring a bottle of water with you. The map is a good visual guide but not to scale. I walked over two miles and I still didn't see the entire gardens. Why you ask? Cause the Asian-American portion was CLOSED. I was very disappointed cause I paid full price to get in and a quarter of the gardens was closed. You don't know it till you actually get there. There are paper signs tapped to chains. Ypu can only go so far. I was told they are "rejuvenating the area". Nobody was working on it when I was there. Nevertheless, it was a nice walk for me. It took me 2 hours. It's my second time, so I skipped the house tour. I wish the flowers and trees were more clearly marked with names and if they were native to Alabama. That said, enjoy my pictures.

    Home Tour was a Bust!
My husband and I purchased home and garden tour tickets. The home tour was a total waste of the money. We were only two people on the tour and we were rushed through the entire house and out the door in less than 25 minutes. As we were sent upstairs to the second tour guide, she asked us to look into the first room and then immediately started talking about the next area before we really had a look at the first bedroom. She was on fire to get us through very quickly. Maybe that's the protocol if it is a large crowd but for two people surely we should have at least been allowed to read the information posted about each viewing area. The first guide took over again at Mr.Bellingrath's office and the master suite. The pace slowed down some but by then we felt both guides wanted us out as quickly as possible. Perhaps they were practicing to see if they could do tours every half hour. The answer is yes! The leisurely walk through the gardens made up for our disappointment, but I don't recommend buying tickets to tour the home if this is the new record breaking speed to get guests in and out as fast as possible.
