Fun day on the creek

We enjoyed floating down the Autauga Creek Canoe Trail. You could easily kayak or canoe this trail but we chose to float on inner tubes. We used two cars and left one at the take out point on Doster Road and the other at the put in site behind city hall. At the put in site, there is a little beach area for playing in the water. You can also walk to the right up toward the dam in the shallows. As we floated down the creek, we found several places to stop and play in the water. We took about two hours to do this trip but it could be done much quicker or longer if you stopped and played or swam. We chose to take out on Doster Road but you can go on much further and take out at the Reuben Road point. We took a small cooler with a couple of waters and sandwiches and stopped and picniced along the way. This is a great FREE activity on a hot summer day.

    Fun day of community service!
With Team RWB Montgomery, Creek Improvement Committee, and friends we cruised down and were able to collect some trash and make some adjustments to the overall creek. We were in Kayaks and I must say, it is smooth sailing for most of the creek. The temperature, despite it being in June, was nice because of the cool breeze and lots of tree cover. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. There are some shallow areas and you have to maneuver your way through them but it is nice. Sometimes, you may have to climb out and walk but overall expect to just float down and navigate. There are numerous areas where you can stop and get out, to rest and have lunch or snack. I would say, after seeing a lot of flotation devices popped and strung along the shore and in the trees, certain types of devices are not going to work in the creek. Please be responsible and clean up the trash after yourselves. Also, if you feel so inclined, bring a bag, and a reacher, and take some stuff out. Overall, enjoy yourself, be safe, and keep these natural areas clean and nice for everyone to enjoy.

The creek walk in Prattville is a finally
I have always hoped our downtown would beautify and it has finally started budding. It has a long time before it blooms. We need business that eat outside and see the creek walk. Vendors selling ice cream. Most of the place to eat are just so so. But it could really become so much more if we get the businesses we need.
