This is an unexpected gem. Very well done.
We stumbled across this museum when we were visiting Athens. What a treasure and stroke of good luck! This museum has exhibits from The Revolution to Iraqi Freedom. Very professionally done. There are items from the Japanese side of WWII that I have not seen in any other museum. If you are a history geek and find yourself near Athens you need to visit this museum . It will take an hour or two to see the exhibits. It is also FREE!!

Very worthwhile and educational place to visit
All veterans will enjoy the museum. Take time to visit and spend a couple of hours at least. If you are visiting the Space center at Huntsville, I recommend a quick stop in Athens at the Veterans Museum either before or after visiting Huntsville!

Outstanding Alabama museum
The carefully curated collections in this extraordinary museum bring history alive to both young and old. Much time and thought has been spent in creating the amazing displays of all wars throughout American history. My husband and I took our grandchildren here for a field trip during Christmas holidays. Bob, our guide who is a veteran, gave us a tour of the museum. Without his excellent presentation of the displays we would have missed a lot. There is so much to see. We spent two hours but will return for more. Four hours is easily spent in this outstanding Alabama Veteran's museum. We highly recommend to everyone!
