    Great Experience
Attended the production of Macbeth in this stunning theater and enjoyed every moment of it. Had previously toured the grounds and the lovely gardens, but this was the first time inside for a show. It was a great company and so glad I was able to have the experience.

Shakespeare in the South? Yep, and it's darn good too!
Rest assured that Hamlet doesn't say y'all and Ophelia isn't barefoot, pregnant and in a sundress which is what I imagined when I first heard of ASF. I've seen 4 plays over the last few years and they have all been well done. The actors are consistently good and the backdrop is always impressive. The venue is intimate so any seat in the house is a good one. Recently I went to a fantastic rendition of Much Ado About Nothing set in colonial India. There was a playful energy and the closing Bollywood dance scene was one of the most delightful things I can remember in all my years of going to the theater. It's a little pricey but worth a once or twice a year splurge. Whenever I've feeling the cultural monotony and stagnation of The South I see what ASF is putting on. It's funny that going to something written 400 years ago is a way to feel enlightened...
