"A Walk Through Time" is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon
"Cemetery Stroll" type event at historic downtown Gadsden Forrest Cemetery. The stroll features role players standing at the graves of prominent and not-so-well known residents, recounting the stories of their colorful lives and the larger stories of Gadsden and Alabama. The event features about 50 characters each year, with some of them portrayed by descendants. Each character, dressed in period costume, tells his or her story in about five minutes, and spectators can wander throughout the cemetery to hear the stories. A program and map are provided to help visitors choose which characters to visit. Event is FREE but donations are encouraged.

A Walk back in time.
This is really unique. This is a local celebration of area pioneers, politicians, and ordinary citizens who built Gadsden and Etowah County, Alabama. Docents, many of whom are related to the characters they portray, provide a living history of the Gadsden community, during the past 180 years. There is Mrs. Whynot, the second woman in the Alabama legislature (circa 1970s) telling onlookers that in her wanderings around the cemetery she's heard that there was a woman running for president. She wonders about this and asks the crowd, "Could she be a Democrat?"

Meeting the Past
This is a wonderful event. I have friends who have participated. My parents are buried at Forrest Cemetery. I was portrayed my father for A Walk Through Time in 2013. A lot of people come out for this event. It's a very unique experience.
