Saken Seifullin Museum, Akmola Province, Kazakhstan
4.5 (23 reviews) Spent < 1 hour Ranking #23 in Astana Speciality Museums
Small but historical
The photo on the banner is of the Kazakhstan Museum of History. Very good place to visit but not the Saken Seifullin Museum. If you speak English be certain to ask for the brochure that is in English about the history of the poet. There is no guided tour, mostly artifacts, photos, and memorabilia from the time of Seifullin, since very little was spared when he was killed.

The smell of history
Saken Seifullin is one the most famous writers from Kazakhstan. The museum is not so large but there are lots of things to see and read inside. His private office equipments, clothes, books etc make you feel the history. You can spend one hour inside with a reasonable entrance fee.

small interesting museum
This is a very small museum in Astana. It is like a wooden datschka, so it stands out from the quite modern buildings in Astana. It shows the remaining belongings of a the Kazakh writer Saken Seifullin. It will take you just half an hour to visit. Everything is written in Kazakh or russian, but the British Council made a brochure in english which was presented to us very kindly by the staff. Outside the museum on the side is a big statue of the writer. You are not allowed to take pictures inside, but the staff proposes you to pose next to the huge portrait of the writer and will take of picture of you as souvenir. I thought this a different and nice idea....
