Picturesque - check out the Penny Bear (Ursa Mater) and cubs

A beautiful park with trails, a picnic area, and an amphitheater located in Tahoe City. Restaurants and shopping adjacent. Check out the artwork at the amphitheater - "Ursa Mater" or "Penny Bear" - a 12-foot sculpture of a mother Grizzly Bear with cubs covered in pennies to simulate the fur. See photos

Catch a lovely sunset after shopping or dining in Tahoe City at our lovely beach!
This is a lovely large beach that is very busy. In the summer there are several concerts on the stage. It's a great place to watch fireworks on the 4th of July, but it may require quite a walk as people come early. Park somewhere legal and facing the direction towards where you are staying, as trying to turn around when leaving at the same time as everyone else can be time consuming. Be sure to pack out any food packaging you brought in! Don't count on local trash containers as they fill early in the day! Please help keep our beautiful beaches pristine!

    Beautiful, easy walk
You can sit on benches, grass or beach or rent a kayak from business right out of their red top on the Tahoe City part of beach (through the fall) or walk along the lake for a little while or walk for miles & miles all around its changing vistas. There are many entrance points as one heads SE, past the yacht club, along a golden path of quaking aspen leaves now, & dining options just up the slope on the street side. Do read the informative stands of both geological & historical information spaced along this great walking & biking path.
